On the good side trials of curling mascara for an honest review, faux freckles, and heatless curls using a t-shirt. On the bad side, getting curls using the bars of a radiator or using glue in your hair because you’ve run short of hairspray.

But this new contouring hack has some weight in that the user @Amanddajustyne is using the power of light and shadow to give the impression of fuller lips and a more lifted face.

In the TikTok video the girl shows her face pre-foundation and points out her concealer application saying ‘I know this looks crazy’, and she’s not wrong, it’s far from the usual C-shape most people do for a more sculpted face.

Instead of adding light around the mouth, she uses the darker contour shade on either side of her mouth and sweeps it up over her cupid’s bow and onto the end of her nose.

She blends this before applying foundation, and then she shows how that turns out before applying her highlighter, and then it’s done.

Towards the end of the video, she says, ‘See how it flips my lips and gives them a nice roll?’ The video is captioned ‘Trust the process’ and the video currently has more than 64k likes on TikTok and it’s been viewed more than 362k times making it a viral hit on the social media site.

While we understand well how contouring for fuller lips, a straighter jawline, and more sculpted cheekbones can make all the difference, we have many questions about this that won’t be answered on hump day.

What we know is that it certainly does seem to work but we’re not sure why, we might look at it again in the morning when we’re a bit more awake.
