5 TRIED AND TESTED TIPS TO GET RID OF DANDRUFF FOR GOOD

There’s no other way of putting it; dandruff is plain annoying! And it’s haunted nearly all of us at some point. The white flakes all over your shoulders, that constant feeling of itchiness… just thinking about it makes me go ‘Yikes!’

Now there are a bunch of reasons for dandruff… a dry scalp, using the wrong shampoo, not washing your hair often enough, the list is long. The important question though is, how do you stop it? While a simple search will give you a bunch of articles with over thousands of remedies (trust me, I’ve read them all), I thought of doing the work for you and telling you how to tackle dandruff from the roots. (Ahem, pun intended!)

Tip #1:  What you eat matters

For starters, drink lots of water! I know it’s always a tip for every beauty problem, but trust me it works. Dehydration can also lead to dandruff! Follow this up with dairy products, protein and omega 3 fatty acid-rich foods. Legumes and cereals are also super effective as they contain zinc, which is important for hair and scalp protection.

Tip #2:  Wash your hair more often

Now I know how tempting it can be to let that beautiful blow-dried hair stay on for a day longer, but did you know that this could worsen dandruff? Yes, the accumulation of dead cells and excess oils can result in dandruff. So, washing your hair a couple of times a week is a good solution. Also, quick pro tip - Don’t use hot water to wash your hair as that can dry out the scalp further.

Tip #3:  Picking the right shampoo is essential

It’s not a one shampoo fits all kinda thing when it comes to hair care. If you suffer from dandruff, make sure to use an anti-dandruff shampoo that has ingredients like neem and rosemary, which help heal as well as nourish the scalp. Use the shampoo often to start with and then wait for a week or two to see results.
